Vision Taiwan promotes a deeper understanding of Taiwanese culture through a diverse range of new and key films and filmmakers.
2021 sees the return of Chinese Visual Festival’s highly popular Vision Taiwan programme, supported by the Taipei Representative Office in the U.K. and the Ministry of Culture, Taiwan (R.O.C.).
CVF’s Vision Taiwan programme showcases both Taiwanese independent and commercial films, facilitating a deeper understanding of Taiwanese cinema, art, and society. In previous editions, Vision Taiwan has featured the visit to London of directors and actors from Taiwan including Huang Shang-ho, Ado Kaliting Pacida, Yee Chin-yen, Singing Chen, Chen Yin-Yen, Wu Wuna and others. The strand also featured the UK premieres of many high profile Taiwanese films, such as Thanatos, Drunk, Panay (Wawa no Cidal), The Rice Bomber, Meeting Dr. Sun and others.
For the relaunch of Vision Taiwan, the festival screens two of the most exciting Taiwanese films of the year, the highly acclaimed queer Shakespeare reworking As We Like It, a visually stunning, light hearted film featuring an all-female cast, and the bloody, high-energy horror satire Get the Hell Out, in which the Taiwanese parliament is overrun by an infectious zombie virus.
