Over the years, CVF has endeavoured to work with Hong Kong filmmakers to highlight and showcase the creativity of cinema from the region, having worked with the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office London and the Hong Kong Arts and Development Council (HKADC) on several occasions, recently on the UK Premieres of films such as Somewhere Beyond the Mist (藍天白雲), Men on the Dragon (逆流大叔) and others.
For 2019, CVF is proud to present our most ambitious Hong Kong programme yet, headlined by the visit of legendary director Stanley Kwan to London, presenting the UK Premiere of his latest work First Night Nerves, as well as rare screenings of his classic works Rouge and Women and taking part in an In Conversation session. The festival also welcomes veteran writer, director and producer Shu Kei, who along with director Jun Li and actress Jennifer Yu will be attending the UK Premiere of the acclaimed transgender drama Tracey.
Through its continuing commitment to Hong Kong film, CVF hopes to provide an exciting and substantial platform for the promotion of Hong Kong cinema and culture, building upon the success of previous events and creating a foundation for the future.
Support for the Hong Kong programmes under CVF, including the screenings of First Night Nerves, Rouge, Women, and Tracey, as well as the visit of Stanley Kwan, Jun Li, Jennifer Yu and Shu Kei, comes courtesy of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, London.
